Mae (17) raises money for Mentelity Foundation with school project

Seventeen-year-old Mae van Leuven decided to raise money for the Mentelity Foundation for her profile paper. The counter is already over €2,000. "Beforehand, I thought I might raise a thousand euros. I'm really very happy that it's going so well!"

Mae initially researched different crowdfunding campaigns to get a good idea of what would and wouldn't work. "At school, everyone reacted very enthusiastically to the idea and the video I ended up making. My cousin said, 'I didn't know profile work could actually be useful.'"

But why did she choose the Mentelity Foundation? "Bibian and Edwin are friends of my parents, but the cause really appeals to me as well," explains Mae, who loves sports herself. "When I'm injured and can't move I immediately feel less good. How annoying must it be when you have less opportunity to play sports because of your physical disability?"

The school project has been completed and turned in, but the fundraiser is still online. "Who knows, maybe I can reach even more people who want to support the Mentelity Foundation. In any case, it made me feel good!"
